1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to rigcad.com and the Rig Cad browser application, including account, project, collaboration, community, file-storage, subscription, and support features. It does not govern third-party websites or services that have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, we may receive identifiers and profile information such as your user ID, email address, display name, username, profile image, authentication provider, and account creation date. Authentication is provided through Firebase.
Projects and content
We process the models, geometry, parameters, files, images, articles, comments, plugins, project metadata, sharing settings, and other content you create, upload, publish, or collaborate on. Public content and public profile information can be viewed by anyone. Private content is made available according to the access controls you select.
Billing information
Stripe processes subscription payments and invoices. Rig Cad receives billing-related information such as Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, subscription status, invoice status, and billing email. Rig Cad does not receive or store your complete payment-card number.
Usage, device, and diagnostic information
We may process technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as IP address, browser and device characteristics, timestamps, requested pages, authentication events, service logs, error details, and performance information. Remote error reporting is only used when an error-reporting service is configured.
Information stored on your device
Rig Cad uses browser storage, including IndexedDB and local storage, for local projects, editor settings, layout preferences, caches, pending synchronization, and other features. Local-only information may remain on your device and may not be recoverable from Rig Cad.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide accounts, CAD tools, storage, synchronization, and collaboration;
- process subscriptions, invoices, plan access, and payment-related support;
- publish content and profiles that you choose to make public;
- maintain security, prevent abuse, enforce access controls, and investigate incidents;
- diagnose errors, improve reliability, and develop new features;
- respond to support requests and communicate service-related information;
- comply with legal obligations and protect the rights of Rig Cad and its users.
4. Legal bases where applicable
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interests in operating and securing Rig Cad, with your consent where requested, and to comply with legal obligations.
5. How information is shared
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. Providers process information for hosting, authentication, database, storage, payments, delivery, and optional error reporting. Current providers include Google (Firebase and optional Analytics), Convex, Stripe, and Cloudflare.
- Other users and the public. Public projects, articles, profiles, and comments are visible according to the publishing and sharing choices you make. Collaborators can access content shared with them.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests; enforce agreements; or protect rights, safety, and service integrity.
- Business transfers. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
- With your direction. We may share information when you ask us to or consent to the sharing.
Rig Cad does not sell personal information for money or use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Rig Cad and its infrastructure may use cookies or similar browser technologies that are necessary for authentication, security, session continuity, preferences, and service operation. The application also uses local storage and IndexedDB as described above.
Google Analytics is optional. Where consent is required, it is not loaded until you select Allow analytics. Elsewhere, it is enabled only after a first-party regional check unless you have declined. When enabled, Rig Cad sends privacy-reduced page-view events using route templates. The integration removes query strings and fragments, replaces usernames, project IDs, article slugs, and other content identifiers with placeholders, disables Google advertising signals and personalization, and does not send a Rig Cad account ID, project/model data, or authored content. Google may process ordinary technical details associated with a web request, such as IP address, browser, device, and timestamps. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can grant or withdraw analytics consent at any time below. Withdrawing consent stops future events and removes Rig Cad's first-party Google Analytics cookies from this browser.
7. Retention
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, your settings, backup cycles, security needs, dispute resolution, and legal requirements. Public content or content shared with others may remain available until deleted or unpublished.
After deletion, residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or fraud and security records. Stripe retains payment records under its own policies and legal obligations.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong authentication method and contact us if you suspect unauthorized account activity.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to a data-protection authority.
Many profile, project, sharing, and billing settings can be managed within Rig Cad or the Stripe customer portal. For other requests, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
10. International processing
Rig Cad and its providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international data transfers.
11. Children’s privacy
Rig Cad is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Higher minimum ages may apply in some jurisdictions. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate consent, contact us.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Rig Cad, our providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.
13. Contact
Privacy questions and requests may be sent to support@rigcad.com.
