About this project
Create custom, one-piece ventilation grilles with fixed louvers spanning most of the vent face. Pick a round or rectangular face, size it, then set the fin spacing, thickness and angle. Optional screw holes sit on small reinforced pads, so the frame stays narrow and the louvers stay open right up to the edge.
No moving parts and no assembly: it prints flat in one piece.
How it works
- Full-face louvers: a row of angled through-channels is cut across the whole opening inside a narrow rim, leaving straight fins with flat landings on both faces.
- Fixed fin angle: the lean is set before printing (0° upright to 45°); the fins don't move.
- Mounting pads: with screw holes on, only four small solid pads are kept around the holes, in the corners of a rectangle or on the diagonals of a round vent. Each hole keeps at least 2 mm of material around it and has a shallow 45° lead-in on both faces.
- Readouts: the configurator shows how much of the face the louvers cover and the clear gap between fins. These are geometry figures, not an airflow rating.
What you can change
| Setting | Range | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Rectangle or round | Round |
| Rectangle width × height | 50–210 mm each | 160 × 100 mm |
| Round diameter | 50–210 mm | 120 mm |
| Depth | 4–16 mm | 8 mm |
| Rim width | 2.4–6 mm, at most 7% of the smaller face size | 5.8 mm |
| Fin pitch | 5–16 mm | 8 mm |
| Fin thickness | 0.8–3.2 mm | 0.8 mm |
| Fin lean | 0–45° from vertical | 30° |
| Screw holes | on/off, 2.4–5 mm | on, 3.2 mm |
Combinations that would leave less than a 2 mm clear gap between fins are refused; increase the pitch or reduce the thickness or lean.
Printing
- Print it flat, as modelled. The tested configurations print without supports; check your chosen settings in the slicer, especially with thin fins.
- 0.8 mm fins are two lines wide on a 0.4 mm nozzle and on the thin side; 1.2 mm or thicker is sturdier.
- Test-print one before installing it.
