About this project
Parametric Fully Printable Mini Vice
A compact vice for holding small parts during hobby work, model making, and assembly. The design uses six printed parts, including a printed lead screw and a matching nut built into the rear support.
Adjust the jaw width, opening, jaw height, base thickness, and block dimensions to suit your project. Thread diameter and pitch update the screw and nut together.
The moving jaw runs on two dovetail rails with outside retaining hooks and a fitted centre web. The hooks sit flush with the jaw sides, while the rails overlap into the base to form one connected structure. A separate rail-clearance control lets you tune the sliding fit independently of the inserts and spindle retainer.
Choose from seven interchangeable pad profiles:
- Flat
- Vertical V groove
- PCB groove
- Single-slope wedge
- V-cradle wedge
- Centre-ridge wedge
- Stepped wedge Wedge depth is adjustable, and the usable-opening readout accounts for the space taken up by the selected pads.
Switch between the assembled view and a print layout that separates and orients the parts. Print-friendly details include sloped internal roofs, tapered screw entry, a flat thrust seat, and a removable spindle retainer.
Guide, insert, and thread clearances are adjustable to suit your printer. Mesh and collision checks have been completed at representative small and large sizes; physical fit will depend on your print settings.
