About this project
A classic twisted pretzel as a flat, hangable ornament. One soft rope loops into the familiar two lobes and crossed arms, with a small rope loop tucked into the notch at the top for a ribbon or hook.
How it's built
- Rope - the right half is a smooth spline stroked to the rope width; the left half is a mirrored copy, so the pretzel is always symmetric.
- Loop - a ring of the same rope, placed by formula so it wedges into the notch between the lobes and sinks half a rope-width into both arms, whatever the size, proportions or rope thickness.
- Body - the ropes and loop are blended where they meet, the hole is cut, and the outline is inflated so the rope has a soft, rounded cross-section.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Half-width | 15-60 mm overall size |
| Shape | Aspect | Squat (0.75) to tall (1.3) |
| Rope | Rope radius | Rope thickness; capped so the lower holes stay open |
| Rope | Flatness | 1 = round rope, lower = flatter |
| Rope | Blend | Fillet where the ropes cross |
| Hanging loop | Loop on/off, hole radius | Turn the loop off for a plain pretzel |
Printing
Print flat on the bed. Because the rope is fully rounded, the bottom edge overhangs a little all round; a brim helps it stay down, or lower the Flatness for a wider foot.
