Chess Queen

About this project

Parametric Staunton-style chess queen, built entirely from SDF primitives blended along the Z axis rather than a revolved sketch profile.

Defaults to tournament proportions: 85 mm tall, 40 mm base diameter.

Construction

  • Queen_Body is an SDF union (circular blend, width qBlend) stacking base disc, base flare, lower collar, waisted stem, upper bead, hollowed coronet, finial neck and the two finial balls.
  • The Staunton concave waist comes from a large torus subtracted coaxially from the stem cone, inside the blend group so the cut fairs in rather than leaving a hard rim.
  • The coronet is difference(union(flare, rim), inverted-cone bowl cutter), so the crown is a real bowl with a stalk and ball rising from it.
  • Crown notches are a radial_repeat of one spherical cutter, kept OUTSIDE the SDF group so the crenellations stay crisp.
  • Optional base recess for felt or a weight.

Every z level and radius is a ratio of qHeight / qBaseDia, so the same tree scales to a whole set.

Verified: watertight, one connected component, genus 0, zero degenerate triangles, 85.00 mm tall.
