Ultimate Vacuum Nozzle Generator

About this project

Make a vacuum attachment that fits your hose. Pick the hose size and how it attaches, choose a tip, and print it as one piece standing on the hose end, with no supports.

The nozzle is a single shell: a round hose connector, a smooth transition, and a straight tip. The airway is the same shape offset inward by the wall thickness, open at both ends.

Hose connection

  • Hose sizes: 1", 1¼", 1½", 2", 2½", 3", 4" and 4½", plus 32, 35, 38, 40, 50, 60 and 100 mm. Choose Custom to type any diameter from 15 to 150 mm.
  • Inside the hose (plug): a tapered plug with a stop collar. Use the hose's inner diameter.
  • Over the hose (socket): a tapered socket with a stop lip inside. Use the hose's outer diameter.
  • Friction taper: the fit diameter runs a little under to a little over the chosen size along the connector, so one print grips hoses that are slightly off nominal. The default taper (1.5 mm) covers 33.5–36.5 mm on a 35 mm hose.
  • Connector length and stop height set how far the hose goes on and how big the collar or lip is.

Tips

Preset Outer size Default length Notes
Slot 40 × 7 mm 40 mm General-purpose flat slot
Wide floor 140 × 10 mm 25 mm End bevelled 20° to sit on the floor
Crevice 20 × 8 mm 120 mm End slanted 45° for gaps and corners
Round tube Ø14 mm 100 mm Small round extension
Off-side flat 70 × 15 mm 40 mm Tip offset so one face is flush with the connector side
Large rectangle 70 × 50 mm 30 mm Big opening for loose debris
Long rectangle 40 × 20 mm 80 mm Long reach with a larger airway
Custom any 50 mm Width, height, corner radius, end-cut angle and direction, side offset

These settings work with any tip:

  • Tip length: overrides the preset length.
  • Bend: angles the tip from the hose axis, from 0 to 90°.
  • Transition length: sets the round-to-tip blend. It lengthens itself so the walls stay within 40° of vertical.

Printing

  • Print it standing on the hose end, as modelled. The plug end has a lead-in chamfer and the socket has a bed chamfer, so the first layer starts cleanly.
  • With the transition kept within 40° of vertical, the nozzle prints without supports up to about a 45° bend. Sharper bends overhang and thin the wall on the inside of the bend.
  • The wall is 2 mm by default and adjustable from 1.2 to 4 mm. Go thicker for big hoses or heavy use.
