About this project
A set of round coasters with flowing wave grooves, plus a matching holder that stores the stack. The grooves are recessed, so the lands between them stay flat and level under a cup.
How it's built
- Coaster - a scalar-field relief carves sinuous wave grooves that fade out before the edge, leaving a plain border ring, and is intersected with a round disc.
- Stack - one coaster under a linear repeat; Coaster count sets how many the holder is sized for.
- Holder - a round cup whose pocket is the coaster diameter plus clearance and whose height follows the stack (with 1 mm of headroom). A finger slot cut into the wall lets you lift the coasters out.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Coasters | Diameter, thickness | 70-125 mm across, 4-8 mm thick |
| Waves | Groove depth, spacing, bend | Depth below the flat lands, distance between grooves, and sideways wave amplitude |
| Holder | Coaster count, wall | Stack size (1-8) and holder wall and floor thickness |
| Clearances | Holder clearance | Radial gap per side between coaster and holder |
| View | Assembled view | On: the full stack inside the holder. Off: one coaster beside the holder, ready to export |
| Resolution | Mesh quality | Draft / Standard / Fine |
Printing
Turn Assembled view off and export: you get one coaster laid out beside the holder. Print the coaster as many times as your count, flat on the bed. Neither part needs supports.
