About this project
A single block of triply periodic minimal surface lattice, trimmed to a rectangular slab. The scene is a sample block rather than a part: it exists so you can see what the four TPMS families look like and how cell size, wall thickness and the sheet-or-solid choice change them.
Pattern
Pattern type switches the lattice between Gyroid, Schwarz P, Schwarz D and Neovius. Volume type switches between Sheet and Solid. The same family reads very differently between those two modes, so try both before forming a view of a pattern.
Cell size and wall thickness
Cell size, 0.5 to 1.5 in steps of 0.1, sets the repeat of the lattice. Wall thickness, 0.1 to 0.9 in steps of 0.05, sets how heavy each member is. These two are the pair that decides whether you get an open lattice or something close to a solid block, and they only make sense together: a small cell with a thick wall closes the pores up, while a large cell with a thin wall leaves a very open web. Move one at a time.
Resolution
Resolution, 0.3 to 0.6 in steps of 0.05, sets the sampling precision the pattern is evaluated at. It does not change the lattice, only how finely the surface is resolved, so it is the setting to leave alone while exploring a shape and revisit once the shape is settled. The one interaction to know about is with wall thickness: a wall thinner than a sample cell cannot be resolved and breaks up into fragments, and a validator on wall thickness fires when that happens.
How the slab is built
The pattern is generated in a 20 by 20 by 5 mm block and intersected with a 19.5 by 19.5 by 4.5 mm box, so the slab you see is trimmed just inside the pattern's own extent and every outer face is a clean cut.
