About this project
A scallop-shell trinket dish: a fan-shaped outline with a softly scalloped edge, a raised rolled rim, and ribs radiating across the floor from the hinge.
How it's built
- Outline - an equation curve draws the fan, widest across the top, with one scallop per rib along the curved edge. It is extruded to full dish height.
- Surface - a scalar-field relief: a raised band follows the outline to form the rim, and ribs fan out from the hinge, fading away at the hinge point and under the rim.
- Dish - the relief is intersected with the extruded outline, giving one smooth body with a flat underside.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Width, depth | 90-200 × 75-180 mm |
| Construction | Floor, rim height | Floor thickness and how far the rim rises above it |
| Construction | Rim band | Width of the rim as a share of the shell size |
| Pattern | Rib count, rib height | 5-17 ribs, 0-3 mm tall (0 gives a smooth floor) |
| Pattern | Scallop depth | How deeply the edge dips between ribs; 0 gives a smooth edge |
| Resolution | Quality | Draft / Standard / Fine |
Printing
Print flat on its underside. The whole top surface is a single height field, so there are no overhangs and no supports are needed.
