About this project
A bud-shaped vase with broad, softly twisting petal lobes around a round belly. The petals fade into a plain round foot and mouth, and the inside stays smooth.
How it's built
- Bud - a revolved profile sets the belly, foot and mouth; the foot and mouth are fractions of the belly diameter, so the silhouette scales as one.
- Petals - a warp pushes broad lobes outward and twists them up the height, fading to zero at the foot and mouth.
- Cavity - a smooth revolved interior, inset by the wall above a flat floor, is cut out. Petals only add material outward, so they never thin the wall.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Diameter, height | 45-100 mm belly (petals add up to twice their depth), 70-180 mm tall; keep height at least 1.4× the diameter |
| Silhouette | Foot ratio, mouth ratio | Foot 0.55-0.8 and mouth 0.28-0.55 of the belly diameter |
| Petals | Depth, count, twist | 0-10 mm lobes (0 gives a plain bud), 4-9 petals, ±80° twist; negative reverses the direction |
| Construction | Wall, floor | Radial wall before the petals, and flat floor thickness |
| Quality | Mesh quality | Draft / Standard / Fine angular sampling |
Printing
Print upright on the flat foot.
