About this project
A round desk pen holder with an open Voronoi lattice wall. The pattern is drawn as a flat panel and wrapped around a cylinder, with one solid strut closing the ring where the ends meet.
How it's built
- Panel — a flat Voronoi panel, stretched to the holder's circumference and height so the cells scale with it.
- Wrapped wall — the panel is wrapped onto a cylinder; its thickness becomes the radial wall.
- Seam strut — a solid vertical strut where the two ends of the panel meet, so the wall is one continuous ring.
- Base — a solid floor reaching the outside of the wall.
Parameters
| Variable | Default | Range | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
holderRadius |
35 mm | 25 – 50 mm | Radius to the middle of the wall |
holderHeight |
100 mm | 70 – 130 mm | Height of the wall |
strutWidth |
5 mm | 2 – 8 mm | Width of the lattice struts and rims |
wallThickness |
2.5 mm | 1.6 – 4 mm | Radial wall thickness |
baseThickness |
3 mm | 1.6 – 6 mm | Floor thickness |
The configurator also shows the outer diameter (~73 mm at defaults).
Printing
- Print upright on the base; no supports needed for typical strut widths.
- Wider
strutWidthmakes a sturdier wall; thin struts with large cells may need slower outer walls to bridge the cell tops cleanly.
