About this project
This example demonstrates a Gerber-to-parametric-model workflow in RigCad using MCP. Gerber artwork is converted into editable 2D profiles, then extruded into separate conductor and substrate objects.
The workflow begins by reading the Gerber units, coordinate format, apertures, drawing commands, and pad flashes. Trace centerlines are reconstructed as paths and stroked to their specified widths. Pad profiles are combined with the routes to form each conductor region, preserving the source coordinates and orientation.
The conductor profiles are extruded to a parameter-driven thickness. The substrate is built from the outline, and the same linked profiles generate matching recesses. Track width, conductor thickness, substrate thickness, and embed depth remain adjustable, with the conductors and substrate kept as separate objects.
The resulting model is reviewed from multiple angles and checked for connected conductor bodies, mesh integrity, alignment, and unintended intersections. Gerber artwork defines the planar geometry; thickness and embedding are added as explicit modeling parameters.
