About this project
A fully 3D-printable, parametric PCB holder for soldering, inspection, and electronics assembly. Two sliding uprights adjust to the board width, while rotating grippers let you position the PCB at a comfortable working angle. Printed locking nuts secure both the upright positions and board rotation.
The design uses a solid base with wide stabilizing feet and a single raised center rail. Rounded rail corners help the uprights slide on easily, and SDF-blended transitions reinforce the posts.
Customize the holder to suit your workspace and boards:
- Adjustable board span, thickness, and gripping depth.
- Independent post height, grip dimensions, and cylindrical gripper offset.
- Adjustable base dimensions, thickness, and rail height.
- Separate diameter and pitch controls for the base and pivot threads.
- Independent heights for the base and upper locking nuts.
- Fluted handwheels, tapered thread starts, and nut lead-ins for easier assembly.
- Rounded taper transitions on the upper nuts.
- Adjustable sliding and thread clearances to tune the printed fit. The assembled view shows the complete holder, while the print layout separates all nine parts onto flat printing faces. Sloped internal rail clearances help reduce unsupported overhangs, and the SDF resolution control lets you balance surface detail against computation time.
Assembly uses printed threads and locking nuts, with no metal fasteners required for the adjustment mechanisms.
