About this project
A personalised name keychain. Raised letters sit on a rounded backing, with a sweeping underline that curls into a key-ring loop. Type any name of up to 12 characters, pick a font, and it prints in one piece. Swap filament at the top of the base for two-colour letters.
How it's built
- Backing - the name is grown outward by the border width. This joins every letter, plus the dots on i and j and accents like ū or ė, into one solid piece.
- Swash - a curved underline stroke. Its length is measured from the actual width of the name in the chosen font, so short names, long names and wide fonts all fit.
- Key-ring loop - a disc with a hole at the start of the swash. It always sits clear of the first letter.
- Letters - the same name, standing above the base by the relief height, with softly rounded top edges.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Name | Up to 12 characters |
| Name | Font | Script, display, sans or serif fonts from the built-in library |
| Name | Letter height, border | Text size and how far the backing reaches around the letters |
| Swash | Offset, extension, width | Move the underline up or down, lengthen it past the name, change its thickness |
| Body | Thickness, relief | Base thickness and how far the letters stand up |
| Key-ring loop | Loop radius, hole radius | Size the hole for your split ring or chain |
Printing
Print flat, no supports. For two-colour letters, add a filament change (M600 / colour change) at the layer where the base ends - the base thickness slider shows that height. PLA or PETG both work; PETG survives a pocket full of keys better.
