About this project
A flat crescent-moon ornament with a star perched on its upper horn and a hanging loop on its back edge. It prints flat with no supports, and its edges are rounded all round.
How it's built
- Crescent - a circle with an offset circle cut out of it. The horn tips are rounded, and the star is placed by formula exactly on the upper horn.
- Star and loop - blended into the moon with a smooth fillet, then the loop hole is cut through.
- Body - the 2D outline is inflated into a rounded slab of the chosen thickness.
Parameters
| Group | Slider | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Moon | Radius | 8-40 mm; everything is placed from it |
| Moon | Bite / shift | Size and offset of the cut-out: thin sliver to fat crescent |
| Moon | Horn rounding | Softens the horn tips |
| Star | Radius, points, inner ratio | 4-8 points, one always facing up; spiky to chunky |
| Hanging loop | Loop / hole radius, angle | Hanger size and where it sits on the back edge |
| Body | Thickness, blend | Slab thickness and the fillet joining star and loop |
Sliders guard themselves: the bite always makes a crescent, horn rounding can't eat the star's mount, and the hole keeps 1.5 mm of wall.
Printing
Print flat on the bed. No supports needed.
