About this project
A flat pendant of a Lissajous figure, the curve traced by two perpendicular sine waves, set in a rounded frame with a bail on top. Pick two frequencies and a phase, and every combination comes out as one connected, printable piece.
How it's built
- Figure - an equation curve, x = a sin(freqX t + phase) and y = b sin(freqY t), stroked to a constant width.
- Frame - a rounded rectangle exactly enclosing the curve. Every figure reaches its full width and height, so it always touches the frame and stays anchored.
- Bail and body - a ring with a hole sits above the frame; strokes are blended where they cross, then the outline is inflated into a slab with rounded edges.
Parameters
| Group | Slider | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Figure | Half-width / half-height | Size of the figure (and frame) |
| Figure | Frequency X / Y | 1-7 each; 3:2 is the classic, 1:1 is an ellipse, high ratios give dense weaves |
| Figure | Phase | Twists the figure; 90 gives the open symmetric form |
| Stroke | Stroke half-width, blend | Line weight and the fillet at crossings |
| Bail | Hole radius, wall | Fits the chain or cord |
| Body | Thickness | Slab thickness, with rounded edges |
High frequencies on a small figure close up the loops; widen the figure or thin the stroke to keep it open.
Printing
Print flat on the bed. A 0.4 mm nozzle handles the default 2.4 mm strokes comfortably.
