About this project
A shallow leaf-shaped trinket tray with a gently bent midrib and recessed fern veins in its floor. The rim rises from the floor in one smooth curve, so there are no sharp inside corners to collect dust.
How it's built
- Outline - an equation curve draws a pointed leaf whose centreline bends by the chosen amount, extruded to full tray height.
- Surface - a scalar-field relief sets the height everywhere: high at the rim, easing down over the blend width to the floor, with soft grooves for the midrib and the angled side veins.
- Tray - the relief is intersected with the extruded outline, giving one smooth body with a flat underside.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Length, width | 90-220 mm long, 55-130 mm wide |
| Size | Bend | Curves the midrib up to 12 mm either way |
| Construction | Floor, rim rise | Minimum floor under the veins and rim height above it |
| Construction | Rim blend | Width of the smooth rim-to-floor curve |
| Veins | Depth, count, width | Groove depth, number of side-vein repeats along the leaf, and groove softness |
| Resolution | Quality | Draft / Standard / Fine surface sampling |
Sliders guard themselves: the leaf stays at least 1.3 times as long as it is wide, the rim blend always leaves an open centre, and the veins stay at least 2 mm below the rim.
Printing
Print flat on its underside. The whole top surface is a single height field, so there are no overhangs and no supports are needed.
