About this project
A capsule-shaped catch-all tray with a floor of flowing sand-dune ripples. The rim rises from the floor in one smooth curve, with no hard inside corners.
How it's built
- Outline - a rounded slot shape extruded to full tray height.
- Surface - a scalar-field relief: high at the rim, easing down over the blend width to a floor of parallel ripples that bend gently along the length.
- Tray - the two are intersected, giving one body with a flat underside.
Parameters
| Group | Control | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Length, width | 90-220 × 60-140 mm |
| Construction | Floor, rim rise, rim blend | Minimum floor, rim height above it, and width of the rim-to-floor curve |
| Dunes | Height, spacing, bend | 0-4 mm crests, 8-24 mm apart, and how much the ripple lines flow |
| Dunes | Phase | Slides the ripple pattern across the floor |
| Resolution | Quality | Draft / Standard / Fine |
Sliders guard themselves: length never drops below width, dune crests stay at least 2 mm below the rim, and the rim blend always leaves an open centre.
Printing
Print flat on its underside. The top surface is a single height field, so there are no overhangs and no supports are needed.
