About this project
A carry crate with filigree walls and ornate corner handles. The panels are a perforated lattice rather than solid sheet, so the box is light, sees through, and looks nothing like a printed bin.
Proportions
Width, depth and height are the outside dimensions. The wall figure drives both the panel thickness and the scale of the lattice worked into it — thicker walls give a coarser, chunkier pattern; thinner ones give a finer mesh that takes longer to print and is easier to snap.
The Info panel reports the usable cavity and its volume, which is not obvious by eye when the walls are patterned.
Handles
The handles are the ornate uprights at each end. They deliberately stand proud of the box footprint — that is what makes them graspable, and it is why the handle span can exceed the box width.
Handle bar thickness is the section of the frame itself. Keep it well under half the handle span or the opening closes up.
Resolution
This is an SDF model, and the resolution figure is the sampling step. Lower numbers resolve the filigree more faithfully and cost time and triangles; higher numbers blur the pattern into blobs. 0.6 is a reasonable working value. Go to 0.3 or below only for the final export, and expect the recompute to be slow.
Printing
Stands on the bed, no supports — the lattice is self-supporting because every strand starts off the one below. The pattern is the whole point, so print it slowly and in a matte filament; a glossy finish flattens the relief.
The thin strands do not like being dropped. PETG is more forgiving than PLA here.
